Scout
Parents, Inc., sponsor of Boy Scout Troop 868 in Shepherdsville,
recognized the need for a Cub Scout Pack to offer the same kind of
organized, active, top-quality Scouting program for elementary-aged boys that Troop 868
has provided for many years to scouts at the middle and high school
levels.
Pack 868
operates independent of Troop 868,
but a close
association with the troop provides resources in numerous areas upon
which the pack can draw. The greatest of these
resources may well be the wealth of experienced leaders and scout
parents within the troop who have already "been there, done
that" in Cub Scouting ... folks who stand ready to lend support, suggestions,
and assistance to help the pack as it grows.
All
too frequently, boys who join a disorganized unit end up having a disappointing
experience that sours them on the whole Scouting program. This is simply not acceptable to
us! Boys who visit and join Pack 868 will have a WONDERFUL experience as Cub
Scouts and (hopefully) remain so excited about Scouting that they will
eventually continue on into Boy Scouting in Troop 868.
The
experienced scout leaders within Troop 868 are available to help guide, train, advise, and assist Pack 868 parents in how to do Cub Scouting
right and provide the kind of program that will both interest and
benefit their sons.
Close association with Troop 868
is particularly beneficial to Webelos Cub Scouts who will be able to get an advance "taste"
of Boy Scouting at its best and get to know members of the troop so that
an eventual graduation into Boy Scouting will be a comfortable
transition rather than
a scary change.
Whether
a boy is brand new to Cub Scouting or has tried Cub Scouting somewhere
else and had a less than outstanding experience, Cub Pack 868 pledges to
"deliver the promise of Scouting." |
