CUBANNAPOLIS 500 (May 26, 2011)
Page 1

The Cubannapolis 500 is a simple and fun event for warm weather.  Basically, each boy makes his own "car" from a large cardboard box.  The cars are worn, so the boys must cut out holes for their head and arms.  They paint or decorate the cars anyway they like ... some get really inventive and make vehicles like buses, fire trucks, or wreckers.  One made a train engine instead of a car!  We've had guys attach flashlights to the sides using duct tape (as headlights) and attach all kinds of other bells and whistles.  The idea is to have fun.  Making the cars takes one whole meeting.  The Cubannapolis 500 race is run the following week.

Kenneth wanted a two-tone car --- Cardinal red and Wildcat blue. Webelos Andrew received some engineering help from his dad.
Dominic and his dad work on attaching a spoiler to his vehicle. Dennis is having fun gluing something to his car.
Webelos Cub Scout Tristan is about to crossover into Boy Scout Troop 868 where he plans to join the Cobra Patrol.  Do you think he's anxious?   Eric was careful to paint around the number 8 on his car.
Krillin does a "test fit" with some help from mom. Caden and his dad work to add some kind of special feature to his car.

Webelos Gavin gets some help attaching black tires made of paper plates to his car.   Bear Den Leader Billy Frank and Cubmaster Steven Frank cut the flaps off of their son's car.
