DISTRICT DAY CAMP  (June 14~18, 2010)

Cub Day Camp is a district-wide event.  The week-long program runs from 8:30 AM ~ 4:30 PM for 5 days.  It is held in the Cub World program area at the Frazier Scout Reservation near Shepherdsville.  To make things easier on our parents, Cubmaster Frank had everyone meet at the Community Center each morning and he shuttled everyone to and from camp on one of the troop buses.

At day camp, two different program tracks are offered --- one for Tigers, Wolves, and Bears; and a separate track for Webelos.  Both groups get to shoot BB guns and do archery.  Both also get to do some hiking and make a number of craft projects.

Each day also featured a "mystery guest" program that everyone enjoyed.  Thursday afternoon and evening were "family night" when families came for dinner and a campfire program where the Cub Scouts performed skits.

Each day began with an opening assembly and flag raising ceremony.

Day Camp Director Barbara Weber signaled that she wanted everyone's attention.

Shooting BB guns was one of the most popular activities at camp.   Den Leader Melanie Douglas, Den Chief Spencer, and Cubmaster Steven Frank watched and offered assistance.

Seth Bendorf, a former Boy Scout District Executive turned magician, was the "mystery guest" on Monday.  He put on a great show.   Day Camp Program Director Angel Mattingly smiled and held a tarp to catch her own head as Seth cut through her neck with an electric sabre saw.

Walking was the primary mode of transportion around camp.  Program areas were close together.   Cody with some new friends from other Mohawk District packs.

Endothermic Erin from Mad Science was Tuesday's mystery guest.   She had the boys doing a number of fun science experiments, including this one involving air.

Wednesday's mystery guest was a visit from "The Bubble Truck."   Scouts made bubbles using an amazing array of different bubble-making "tools" and gadgets.
