CAMP
FRIEDLANDER 2009 (Friday~Sunday,
April 3~5)
Page 2
After breakfast, everyone was
ready to go hiking and explore the camp. A group
of other scouts from the Dan Beard Council was conducting a conservation
project and our group got some lessons on tree planting from an expert
forester. We climbed through "The Mine" before hiking up
the back side of the dam to see Lake Schott and visit Fish Island, the
Eagle's Nest, and other landmarks at Camp Friedlander.

| We learned the proper
way to plant trees from a professional forester. |
Our morning hike
included some "follow the leader" through the obstacle
course. |
| We stopped to tour
"The Castle" where we had camped the prior year. |
And, naturally,
everyone had to stop and explore "The Mine." |
| Hunter navigates his
way through one of the tunnels. |
Everyone tried to
climb the ladder up to the "escape hatch" at the same
time! |
| Henry stands at the
end of one tunnel and ponders whether or not he's ready to exit. |
The hike continued
with a steep climb up the back side of the dam. |
| The hike
continued through the woods. Cubmaster Meek always seems
to be able to find trails blocked by fallen trees that Cub
Scouts get to climb over! But a few fallen trees doesn't
slow this group down. |
