CAMP
FRIEDLANDER 2009 (Friday~Sunday,
April 3~5)
Page 3
After the hike, it
was back to camp for lunch. During the afternoon, Cubs mostly
paired off with their moms or dads to go fishing, do some more hiking
around, revisit the obstacle course, or play in the sand on the
volleyball court. Several dads took on the project of building a
campfire for Saturday night and other parents cooked the evening meal so
the boys could play. After a truly grand meal, the group roasted
marshmallows around a campfire.

| Saturday lunch was
the ever popular camp favorite "Box Oven Pizza."
The Cubs got to make their own pizzas and cook them in a
cardboard box oven. |
Pack 868's resident
chefs (Sam Borquez, Steven Frank, Leo Heppler, and Alan Wetzel)
undertook the task of cooking grilled chicken for Saturday
dinner. |
| Mrs. Rich, Mrs.
Brown, and Mrs. Zimmerman got to play "lunch lady" and
do the serving. |
Den Chief Chris Brown
sat with a group Cub Scouts. |
| The campfire was more
than sufficient to roast marshmallows and the heat felt good on
a cool April night. |
It's amazing how many
marshmallows and smores a group of Cub Scouts (and Cub Scout
parents) can eat. |
| There's just
something special about the fellowship around a campfire. |
On Sunday morning, a
few dads didn't want to roll out of bed ... until Mr. Meek
turned the "wake up crew" loose with his bull horn. |
| For Sunday morning
breakfast, campers had their choice of hot oatmeal or cold
cereal. |
These guys are fired
up and we aren't even finished with breakfast yet! |
