"The
Castle" at Camp Friedlander
(April 16~18, 2010)
Page 1
Pack 868's annual
spring camping trip to Camp Friedlander is always a popular
outing. The Cub World at Camp Friedlander features three theme
areas --- a mid-evil "castle," a frontier "fort,"
and a gold rush "miner's camp." The castle and the fort
both feature sleeping rooms with bunk beds for 4~8 people. Pack
868 has traditionally alternated between the fort and the castle.
Last year we stayed in the fort, so this year we were back in the
castle.
During the day on
Saturday, we took a hike through Cub World and the Boy Scout camp part
of Camp Friedlander. On Saturday afternoon we shot BB guns.
The Cub Scouts cooked pancakes for breakfast and made box oven pizzas
for lunch. The parents cooked dinner and Sunday morning
breakfast. We ended the day with a Saturday night campfire
complete with skits by each den. Afterward, we roasted
marshmallows and made smores.
