INDIANAPOLIS CHILDREN'S MUSEUM  (March 2011)

As our March outing, the Pack took a day trip to visit the Children's Museum in Indianapolis.  This turned out to be a popular event and we had two full bus loads of participants.  Unknown to us when we planned the trip, the day we went was "Star Wars Day" at the Museum, so there were a dozen or more costumed characters from the Star Wars movies walking around.  We met wookies, imperial storm troopers, and even Darth Vader (who was much nicer in person than in the movies).

Star Wars aside, the boys really enjoyed the museum.  They "dug" for dinosaur bones, experimented with water power, saw actual costumes from dozens of movies and TV shows, sat in a scale model Indy-500 car, and viewed dozens of other exhibits.

We had a "picnic" lunch at the Museum then stopped for dinner at a Ryan's Restaurant on the way home.  It was a full day of fun!

Matthew with a few of his drinking buddies from the Galaxy Cafe. A couple of scouts check out a display of curved mirrors that distorted their reflection.
Perhaps more than any other area, scouts enjoyed the water power exhibits that were very "hands on." Webelos Scout Tristan installed a block of wood to create a man-made dam in the channel.
Assistant Cubmaster Bob Meek introduced a group of Cub Scouts to his friend, Darth Vader. James wandered into restricted area and got apprehended by a storm trooper.
The group had a "picnic style" lunch in the museum's group room. Kenneth checking out what it feels like to sit in the seat of an Indy-500 race car.
Gavin waits while Dennis stops to get a haircut. Matthew took a moment to call one of his girlfriends.

The group gathered back in the group room at the end of the day for a headcount. The buses lined up outside the group entrance ready to take everyone back home to Shepherdsville.
