SCOUTING FOR FOOD & BOWLING
(Saturday, November 8, 2008)

Our November Pack Activity of the Month was to participate with Boy Scout Troop 868 and two other area Cub Scout Packs in the SCOUTING FOR FOOD canned goods drive.

On Saturday, November 8, scouts and parents spent the morning visiting dozens of Shepherdsville neighborhoods placing informational flyers about SCOUTING FOR FOOD on each door.  We then went back to the Shepherdsville Community Center where Boy Scout Troop 868 treated us to pizza for lunch.  Then we boarded the troop's bus and the Boy Scouts took us bowling for the afternoon.

The following Saturday (Nov. 15) we again worked with Boy Scouts from Troop 868 and Cub Scouts from two other packs to go back to pickup the food donations that residents had set out on their front porches.  Photos from that day are posted on Troop 868's website at www.bsatroop868.com/S4Food08.htm.

All the Cub Scouts who participated in bowling earned their Bowling Belt Loops.  And everyone learned that performing community service work can be fun.

Pack 848 Cubmaster Patrick McClure entered names into the scoring computer.

Pack 868 Cub Scout Hunter looks more ready for a wresting match than a friendly game of bowling!

As Pack 868 Cub Scout Henry knows, success is all in the way one holds their tongue.   The look on Pack 848 Cub Scout Gus' face says it perfectly ... "I can't believe I missed them ALL!"

Pack 868 Tiger Cub Matt seems to be having fun.   Troop 868 Boy Scout Cody is now going to show everyone how it's done.  Go Cody!

Whoever thinks a group of boys can't get along and enjoy themselves bowling obviously hasn't met these guys.   Pack 848 Webelos Scout Preston picks himself up after literally putting his whole body into that last roll.  Look closely ... it was a pretty good roll.

Pack 868 Wolf Cub Scout Jesse seems pretty pleased about his performance.   We're not sure if Pack 868's Scott is checking the score or asking a higher power for help?
