TRASHMASTERS CLASSIC LAKESHORE CLEANUP
(Friday~Sunday, September 19~21, 2008)

Pack 868 went tent camping for the weekend and spent Saturday morning picking up litter from around the shoreline of Barren River Lake.  The unit camped at the Bailey's Point public campground and rode on pontoon boats to get to their assigned section of lakeshore.

On Saturday afternoon, the group attended a beach party hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at nearby Barren River Lake State Resort Park.  Boys had a chance to swim and play in the sand.  Several members of the group also won some nice door prizes.

The pack camped separate from but next to Troop 868.  The Cub Scouts participated in a Boy Scout style campfire program hosted by the troop on Saturday night and also joined with the troop for a Sunday morning worship service.

Cub Scouts Hunter, Josh, and Dalton watched as Cubmaster Bob Meek lit a propane lantern.

Cub Scouts and their fathers stood in formation for Saturday morning flag raising.

Pack 868 scouts and parents waited in line to eat lunch at the afternoon beach party.   Alexus tried to hide from the camera but Dawson was more than willing to be photographed.

The Cubs enjoyed the shallow water in the marked swimming area at the state park beach.   T.J. played in the sand at the water's edge.
Scouts and leaders from Troop 868 (at left), Pack 868 (center), and Troop 600 that camped nearby (at right) all joined in for flag raising on Sunday morning.  Troop 868 Senior Patrol Leader Tim Meek gave instructions to the Cub Scout color guards before beginning the ceremony.

Scouts and parents from both Pack 868 and Troop 868 joined for Sunday morning worship at the campground's outdoor amphitheatre.   Cubs and parents stood in formation for the closing flag ceremony before departing camp on Sunday afternoon.

Dalton, T.J., Hunter, and Josh posed under a huge tree near the Boy Scout campsite.   Naturally, the Boy Scouts had to climb the tree before departing camp.  Dads and leaders had to give a boost to the Cub Scouts who wanted to get in on the action.
