WEBELOS
RESIDENT CAMP (July
14~17, 2011)
Webelos Resident
Camp is a 4-day, 3-night adventure conducted at Camp Tunnel Mill near
Charlestown, Indiana. It's for both first and second-year Webelos
(which are the boys who were Bears or first-year Webelos until the May
Pack Meeting). Most of our second-year Webelos had crossed over
into Troop 868 and went to Boy Scout summer camp in Tennessee in June.
WRC is fun, fun, fun
at a pace that never stops! It is non-stop activity for the
campers. They get to work on a variety of Webelos Activity Pins
such as Aquanaut (Camp Tunnel Mill has a swimming pool), Outdoorsman,
and Sportsman. They eat most of their meals in the camp's dining
hall, have two campfire programs, hike around the camp, and generally
get to have a great time.
Our boys even got to
sleep in Boy Scout canvas wall tents borrowed from Troop 868. They
traveled to and from camp aboard one of the troop buses --- the same way
the Boy Scouts go to camp. It was a great experience for all the
Webelos who participated. Unfortunately for us, the leaders were
so busy having fun, they didn't take many pictures.

part of the check-in process, everyone takes a swim test. |

| Shooting
BB guns is always popular with the boys, and they had several
opportunities to shoot at Webelos Resident Camp. |

| An
range officer kept a watchful eye to make sure all the guns
stayed pointed downrange. Safety first! |

Scouts
stand in formation for a flag ceremony before mealtime. A
couple of our guys were part of the color guard for this
particular ceremony. |
